From survivors to stars

Working with the charities Music Action International, and Freedom From Torture, Manchester, a group of refugee torture survivors were offered music sessions as a form of group therapy.

Their journey

What started as rehabilitation quickly became a means of channeling their collective voice and spreading the word about their experiences.

Over the course of more than a decade together, the group have released two albums, shot music videos, and played to live audiences at some of the UK’s most prestigious venues.

This film charts that journey, bearing witness to their indomitable spirit and acting as a platform for their message of hope and joy in the face of overwhelming adversity.

Incredible. I cried, I smiled, I was so moved..”

— Audience member, Stone Flowers at Royal Exchange Theatre
